Venue: Chateau Dale restaurant Thappraya road
General Rules:
Throughout the year we play Pair Bridge on Thursday mornings. In the high season (Nov. – March) we play pair bridge also on Tuesday evenings. On Sundays we play Rubber Bridge.
Tuesdays are open sessions. No pre-registration is required but players should be at the game venue before 18.45. Play will start at 19.00.
On Thursday pre-registration is required; players have to be at the game venue by 09.45 at the latest and play will start at 10.00. In principle, each player has to bring his/her own partner. One should not refuse to play with an assigned spare player.
For the Thursday session the registration must be done before 9.45 at the venue. For spare players you can contact the members of the committee.
For Rubber Bridge on Sunday no pre-registration is required. Play starts at 13.00 hours and will end at approximately 17.00 hours.
Admission fee: Players can buy a snip card for 1000 Baht. This card is valid for ten sessions. The cost of playing without a snip card is 150 Baht.
Our Bridge club is not a member of the Dutch Bridge league. For practical reasons only we are a member of the Contract Bridge League of Thailand. Our Bridge club has no pretensions other than being a place where people can play in the same way as they are used at home. We
expect all problems at the tables to be resolved peacefully by the players themselves.
Some examples of problems are:
a. Making a bid before it is your turn
b. Playing a card before it is your turn
c. Not playing the right card
For infringements as described above, we expect that there will be no penalty. If, however, there is disagreement about the way of handling a situation we request the players to contact the Tournament director or another BC member at all times.
Promotion and demotion rules.
If there is more than one line, e.g. an A and B line, each new player will start in the lowest group. The number of tables will determine how many pairs will promote or demote. With 8 to 10 tables 1 pair, with 10 to 12 tables 2 pairs a.s.o.. The tournament director however is authorized to adjust this rule at his own discretion if the circumstances warrant it. The result of the drives will be sent to each player by e-mail, and you can find them on the website of the Dutch Expat Association (NVP)
Behaviour:
We expect Bridge players to dress according to commonly accepted standards. Wearing singlet’s or short shorts/ dresses is not acceptable at our club.
If there are mixed nationalities at the table English will be spoken.
Body language as a signal to one's Bridge partner is not allowed. Of course, this does not apply to signalling by means of play cards such as e.g. Lavinthal etc.
Each non-standard bid must be alerted.
Players should discuss infringements in a sporting manner.
Misbehaviour of any sort is not acceptable. Players who offend will receive a warning. Repeated disrespectful behaviour will lead to disqualification for a certain period to be determined by the committee. If a player does not agree with a decision made by the BC, the player can request in writing that the BC re-consider its decision. The player will receive an answer within 2 weeks after the request.
Players are expected to be sober during the game.
Smoking at the tables is prohibited.
Any player who does not accept these basic rules should seek another Bridge club which better suits his or her needs.
Clearing Up:
Players are requested to clear their own table at the end of each session and to place the materials in the assigned plastic boxes.
